Quincy City Councillor Joe Finn is Guest

Tom Williams introduced Quincy City Councilor Joe Finn as the guest speaker
at the May 7, 2007 monthly meeting of Local 133. Tom stated Joe was a “true
friend of labor”.
Joe Finn thanked members of Local 133 for helping
him get elected. “Without your help I would not be serving the people
of this great city or the interests of working people. I want to thank you
for all your help and support”. he stated.
Councilor Finn outlined the importance of electing local officials that are
sensitive to the needs of working men and women. He told local union members
he was proud to join union members at a resent picket line in North Quincy
protesting undocumented workers.
He pointed out he was the only public official to walk the picket line with them. “I was with you then and will continue to be with you every step of the way. We have a lot of work to do”. Finn stated.
Councilor Finn outlined the importance of economic development in the city
including the downtown area. “Econimic development means jobs for you
and the members of Local 133. Joe pointed out that the tax revenue created
by new construction will help stabilize the city tax rate. Families are struggling
to make ends meet. We can not afford higher taxes this is one of the solutions.”
Finn stated. He informed members he has an opponent in the upcoming election
that is in opposition to the roadway know as the Cross Town Connector even
though 3 different reports stated that the roadway is a necessary component
to the development of the downtown
